Don\u2019t get yourself into debt making big payments, just make regular smaller payments \u2013 the kind of things you might normally make in cash or whack on your contactless debit card.<\/p><p><strong>Balance out your cards<\/strong><\/p><p>Make sure that your credit cards are levelled-off at all times. If you have one card that is looking a bit low, top it off with another one. Managing your credits by switching balance from one card to another shows financial maturity.<\/p><p><strong>Pay off, don\u2019t close off<\/strong><\/p><p>Around 15% of your credit score is decided by the length of your credit history. If you close your old accounts you can shorten the time and affect your credit score. So, pay them off, don\u2019t close them off.<\/p><p><strong>Take out a credit builder card<\/strong><\/p><p>If you haven\u2019t had the opportunity to build up a credit score yet, or you\u2019ve got a less than perfect score, take out a credit builder card. These are real tests: they have low credits and high interest rates, so manage this right and you\u2019re onto a winner.<\/p><p><strong>Piggyback on someone\u2019s credit score<\/strong><\/p><p>Adding yourself onto a credit account of someone with a good rating (with their permission!) is a great way of improving your credit score. It proves you are trustworthy with money. This is usually best to do with a partner or family member.<\/p><p><strong>Up your credit limits<\/strong><\/p><p>Don\u2019t panic, we know this sounds crazy. This is actually a very effective way of lowering your credit utilisation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evolutionfunding.com\/public\/\/how-can-i-improve-my-credit-score\/\">improving your credit score<\/a>. Here\u2019s how it works: you use \u00a3300 each month on your credit card but have a limit of \u00a3600, your credit utilisation is 50%. If you increase your credit limit to \u00a3900, your credit utilisation drops to 30%. Just don\u2019t be tempted to splash out.<\/p><p>The three numbers that make up your credit score have a massive effect on your life, so it pays to improve it as much as possible.
